Our Editorial Team & Process

Who We Are

The MenoBalance Team is a multidisciplinary group united by a single mission: translate the science of menopause into actionable guidance for women who don’t have time to read 200 studies.

We are:

  • Health researchers who specialize in systematic literature reviews across endocrinology, sleep medicine, neuroscience, and nutritional science
  • Science communicators trained in translating complex physiology into clear, practical language
  • Women who have lived through or are living through perimenopause and menopause — this is personal for us, and that shows in every article

We are not doctors. We do not provide medical prescriptions or individualized treatment plans. We are your research partners — the people who read the studies, evaluate the evidence, and bring you what actually works.

Our Editorial Process

Every article on this site passes through a multi-step editorial pipeline:

1. Topic Selection

We prioritize topics based on what our readers actually struggle with — sourced from real questions, search trends, and clinical relevance. If menopause is keeping you up at 3 AM, making you rage at your partner, or clouding your focus at work, we want to cover it.

2. Evidence Gathering

We search PubMed, the Cochrane Library, and other peer-reviewed databases for high-quality evidence. Our minimum bar is studies published in reputable, peer-reviewed journals. We prioritize:

  • Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) where available
  • Systematic reviews and meta-analyses
  • Large-scale observational studies when RCTs are impractical
  • Mechanistic studies to explain why something works

3. Critical Appraisal

Not all studies are created equal. We evaluate each piece of evidence for:

  • Sample size and statistical power
  • Methodological rigor (blinding, control groups, randomization)
  • Relevance to the perimenopausal and menopausal population
  • Conflicts of interest and funding sources
  • Replication across independent research groups

4. Translation

The hardest step: turning complex physiology into something useful. We write for a woman who is smart, busy, and tired of being dismissed. No dumbing down — but no unnecessary jargon either. Every mechanism is explained, every recommendation is contextualized, and every protocol is actionable.

5. Review & Fact-Checking

Before publication, every article is reviewed by at least one other member of the MenoBalance Team for:

  • Accuracy of claims against source studies
  • Proper citation of references (PMIDs, DOIs, or direct links to peer-reviewed research)
  • Safety of recommendations
  • Clarity and readability
  • Compliance with FDA Structure/Function claim guidelines

6. Ongoing Updates

Science evolves. We track new publications in the fields we cover and update articles when significant new evidence emerges. Every article carries a publication date and, where applicable, a last-updated date so you know how current the information is.

Our Commitment to You

Evidence Over Anecdote

We do not recommend protocols, supplements, or products based on testimonials alone. If the evidence is thin, we tell you it’s thin. If something works for 1 in 3 women and we don’t know why, we say that too.

Independence

We operate on an affiliate model — meaning we may earn a commission if you purchase through our links. This does not influence what we recommend. Our criteria are always: does the evidence support it, and is it safe? Products that fail either test are not recommended, regardless of commission potential.

Transparency

We clearly distinguish between:

  • What the research conclusively shows
  • What the research suggests but has not confirmed
  • What is theoretical based on mechanisms but lacks clinical evidence
  • What is speculative or marketing-driven (and should be avoided)

Humanity

We do not reduce menopause to “low estrogen.” We treat it as what it is: a whole-system transition affecting sleep, mood, cognition, relationships, identity, and career. Every article starts from the premise that your experience is real, your symptoms are valid, and you deserve answers backed by something more substantial than “it’s just age.”
